Description
3B River Gravel is a naturally sized and shaped stone that is typically found near bodies of water. It is about the size of a plum, with an average diameter of 1.5″ – 3″. This size of gravel is a popular solution for those customers who do not want to mulch their gardens every year. 3B Gravel has various natural colors, is relatively permanent, and unlike some decorative stones, it is very affordable and abundant.
Like its limestone counterpart, 3B River Gravel can also be used for drainage applications like culverts and french drains (where larger stone is required).
Sold per Ton (approximately 0.67 Cubic Yards)
Unlike limestone, which is crushed to size and angular in shape, river gravel is naturally sized and rounded from many years of erosion. The original source for gravel was river dredging, which was outlawed due to its environmental effects. River gravel is now obtained from old river banks, which is a much more environmentally friendly method.
Note: While all of our gravels are “washed”, there may still be a light residue left on the stones, which is left over from the mining, screening, and transportation. Once the gravel is spread, the first rain/hosing will remove the residue and expose the natural colors.
